  • Peel It                 Away

Peeler – how I love to touch you:

To hold you tight in my right hand,

    My index finger snuggling soft

    Into that smooth, thoughtful indent,

    Ring and baby digits curling

    Into the handle’s oval hole.

Peeler – you are my stainless steel

Rubber-legged cat.  From your hard head,

    Your silver triangular head

With its elegant neck, its hole

Round as a mouth licking fur,

Your dainty ears spring.  Between ears

The sharp bite, the scratch, the quiet hiss

Cut straight across.  This is my thrust

    As I dig in – firm; strong;

    Glide gloriously down

    A comical carrot,

    Your feline claw scraping,

    Teeth stripping – till

    The victim lies

    Bare,

    Flayed

                  Skin

                            Like

                                      Shreds

                                                     Of

                                                            Light.
